Invitation sneak-peek

So yesterday I mentioned that Tim & April had sent the preliminary sketches for our invites. I think I also mentioned that I LOVE them. They are so creative and cute AND informative.
Here are some of the highlights:

The cover - with a layout adapted from an old book cover, I believe. A sweet modification:
is the picture of a boat, since we're getting married over on the island and people will need to ferry over.

On the inside, Pip and I will have to decide what wording we want, etc., but I love the idea of having the map included since getting there is a little bit of an adventure. These maps are quite the little trend - I think it would be neat to point out things like where Centreville is, and where the nude beach (yes!) is if there's space.

For the RSVPs April and Tim had the genius idea of using a check-out card, since we're librarians. We'll have to figure out a way to make it work as a post-card since it would make it simpler AND cheaper. Some are available on etsy, but I'm gonna check out some library vendors too.

Cute, huh? Tim and April are just starting out in the invite biz, and April's also about to start arranging flowers as well - such a talented (and super nice) couple!

they're not on sale yet :(

But I'll keep checking. I won't bore you with more shoe talk but now I'm thinking maybe some simple metallic ballet flats from J.Crew would be good enough. Okay I just bored you with more shoe talk!

So things are happening again! Lovely April & Tim, our invitation artists, got back to us with the first sketches and they are really really great. Very cool, and bookish, and library-ish (yes, it's possible). Pip and I have been pondering a change in venue... the ferry trip over the island poses some logistical challenges... but we'll wait until we go over on October 29 with our coordinator Jyl to make the final decision. It's a little tiresome... I find myself less into the wedding blogs, or interested in talking about details with people, but I think this lull in excitement is normal. Pip and I just need to keep focused on what the point of it all is (to commit to eachother, to celebrate with friends and family!) and it will all be fine.

Deep breaths...

4 times the cost of my dress

But ohhhh so pretty. Maloles ballet flats, via net-a-porter. I wannnnt them. They are just perfect. Relaxed, chic, pretty, not too showy. They'll go on sale, right?

...now back to shoes

Which do you prefer:

a) Fendi leather banana (?) flats
or b) Pedro Garcia Sonia flat sandals

tomatoes!

So I made some of the tomato favours. I think they're pretty darned cute. I ordered the fabric... some kind of shot cotton and some felt from Purl. I also ordered some embroidery thread but can't for the life of me find it in the coach house!

I've got seven done, I think... so just 43 to go!

Great guest book idea

I think we'll probably just have a normal guest book (can't have too many crazy elements!) but this idea from a Washington State (oh, to live in Washington State) featured on A Practical Wedding used old typewriters and a rolodex-ish set-up. Very hip.
