ooooh fun

I've liked the idea of the chalkboard fabric for a while now and this is a fun use for it. I also like the porcelain vessels incl. the milk bottles. Someone has her finger on the pulse of craft trends.

Apparently featured on Martha Weddings, via the just-added-to-my-feed-reader "we met in a bar"

Upon last discussion, we're going with red and white gingham table cloths with kraft paper on top and crayons for the wee ones. As a person who owns ONE table cloth and VERY RARELY uses it, let me say that it is very weird to have table dressings planned for a dinner not quite a year away. Weddings are weird, man.

I think I've got my dress...

So the ebay dress did come after all. It's just too easy. It can't be done, can it?
It fits, but it's hard to say much else about it since it's so creased but this weekend I should be able to get a better idea of what it's like.

Aside from that, the wedding planning is on a natural pause. We've got everything sort of booked, but nothing fully booked and I'm trying not to let that stress me out. I did a trial run of the tomato favours, and they look cute but I need red fabric for sure. White with red polka dots just doesn't cut it I'm afraid.

I'm not sure what to do next... we guess just wait. Wait until we hear back from the caterer, wait until we hear back from the venue person, but they've all said they're in, and we just need quotes and to sign things. Waiting is not my forte, but wait I will do.

see, this is what i'm thinking:

The ladies in different dresses, with the same colour in mind. Although in my case - red! And see how the bride's dress is nice and simple? Yeah, I like that too.

I wanna stay here

The nights before and after we tie the knot. Now, don't you book it for those dates!

Swan's End Guest house on Algonquin. Thanks to our photographer Derek for the tip.

Rustic abundance

is the mood of this inspiration board from snippet & ink. The colours are red, wheat and green... exactly our colours. The wheat was the part I was struggling with describing... I kept saying "you know, an undyed cotton or linen colour. not white."

Neat mesquite!

sooo pretty

are these dresses from myfavoritevintage. This week I've been thinking of doing some vintage hunting with my best gals in lieu of buying new. Vintage does not work for me, since I'm all tall and womanly, but my ladies in waiting are more vintage-friendly. These would fit the bill. And this one. Oooooh. Via a cup of Jo.

weather on the island

What kind of librarian would I be if I couldn't compare the average weather in June on Toronto Island with that of mainland Toronto?

A bad kind of librarian. Which I am not.

So it's a bit cooler and equally rainy on the island when compared to the mainland. But there's little to no chance of snow.

and he drives a vespa!

So we've chosen a photographer and I'm really happy about it. Like so many things with our wedding so far, it wasn't even like we had to plan and research etc. Things keep happening serendipitously... like when we went to sell CDs at Sonic Boom and in the course of conversation we found out that the fella behind the counter his fiancee do screen printing. Hello invitations.

Likewise, I went to play soccer with a colleague, and at post-game-commiseration drinks found out that one of the stand up fellows on the team is a photographer with a really neat style. Hello photographer!

Derek Wuenschirs works independently and with BizPhoto. He's also really nice. Below are some of his photos from weddings. Very cool and unsappy. Great colour sense. And now I will stop pretending I know stuff about photography.

i am fascinated

by fascinators. This one from PinkTigersDen on Etsy. This would be great in "buttermilk." I don't have very voluminous hair, so something a little more minimal would probably be best. But what do I know?

ban.do bandwagon

Gorgeous, bohemian headbands and fascinators from ban.do.

I think I would have a hard time getting my sister to wear one of these, but I'm tempted for myself... via my probable fave, Oh Joy!.

Love

The vest & rolled up sleeves look on Mr. Pegaja, aka mr. oh my deer. The willows are lovely, too. And this video their friend made on a super 8. Good golly. Can Pip and I just pop ourselves into this wedding?

Cute dress!

Nice price, too. From Joules. I think drapey fabrics suit me a bit better, but this would be lovely on my friend Meaghan, who's also getting married next summer.

Rustic Red

Another lovely inspiration board from Elizabeth Anne Designs. I like having the candles in jars. Maybe candles in jars, flowers in cans? I dunno. Too many details!
