first bunch of invites out

There are a few more to send, but some people have already received theirs! This is probably bad etiquette, but don't get me started about all the crazy etiquette...

Can you tell how happy I am to get these in the mail? Verging on the maniacal, some might say. No invite photos until they're all received, though...

Invitation sneak-peek

So yesterday I mentioned that Tim & April had sent the preliminary sketches for our invites. I think I also mentioned that I LOVE them. They are so creative and cute AND informative.
Here are some of the highlights:

The cover - with a layout adapted from an old book cover, I believe. A sweet modification:
is the picture of a boat, since we're getting married over on the island and people will need to ferry over.

On the inside, Pip and I will have to decide what wording we want, etc., but I love the idea of having the map included since getting there is a little bit of an adventure. These maps are quite the little trend - I think it would be neat to point out things like where Centreville is, and where the nude beach (yes!) is if there's space.

For the RSVPs April and Tim had the genius idea of using a check-out card, since we're librarians. We'll have to figure out a way to make it work as a post-card since it would make it simpler AND cheaper. Some are available on etsy, but I'm gonna check out some library vendors too.

Cute, huh? Tim and April are just starting out in the invite biz, and April's also about to start arranging flowers as well - such a talented (and super nice) couple!

library-ish wedding invite details.

all from Sesame letterpress.

We talked to Tim & April our cute invite couple about incorporating some kind of library-ish detail into our invites like a pocket with a checkout card-style rsvp postcard. Since we're both librarians it would be a shame not to capitalize on that theme-wise.

Tim & April's Nada Surf poster

More vintagey bookey ideas

Today Pip and I met with Tim and April, the super cute and awesome couple who are screenprinting our invites etc. They have done a bunch of posters for gigs at Sonic Boom, including an awesome one for the Nada Surf in store that was based on an old Penguin cover.

They might draft up something like that, based on another book in their rad vintage book collection for us. I meant to take pictures but after all the excitement I forgot.

Going through my feeds just now I came across these old nature guide covers and contents on Nibs:

I love the old paper colour and there's something about the ink on these old books. Just so cool.

Aha!

In my browsing a few days ago I saw an invitation that I particularly liked and then lost it.
But as Spenser says, "there is nothing lost, that may be found, if sought."

Cute, no? From The Small Object.

Also from The Small Object, these cute-as stickers we're thinking of using for our save-the-dates or something:
