Must. do. crafts.

Remember how I posted wayyyyy back about those tomato pincushions from Martha? Well I did a test run, and it wasn't too hard and they're pretty cute, so I've ordered the proper fabric to do a bunch of red ones and a couple of token green ones.

Now I just have to work up the energy to make them. Being an academic librarian in September really takes it out of one, let me tell you. Man alive! And my plans for getting back in shape have been disrupted somewhat although I had one heck of a run on the treadmill yesterday and am keen to get back on it tomorrow (when I've got the day off - yeah!).

We've both been in a planning lull, but I got an e-mail from the knot today saying that the wedding is 9 months away and when I relayed the info to Pip he had a mini freak out so I think it's time to pick it up again. Meetings! Crafts! Working out! Shopping! Registering!

Oof... I'm tired just thinking of it.

Red green and yellow?

Another great board from Snippet & Ink. The yellow really cheers it up... I remember listening to the director's voice over thing for Amelie with Jean-Pierre Jeunet and he described his use of colour in the film. Red and green were the primary colours, but each scene had another colour to make it work well - often a rich bottle blue. The yellow here reminds me of that principle. Hmm.

It makes me think that our red green and wheat idea might be a little sedate. Maybe some pops of yellow. Arg who knows.

This morning I was thinking that it would be great to just do a civil ceremony earlier in the week with a couple of witnesses and just party on the "wedding" day.

The look... of Pip

hey. s'pipster. so i'm thinking if it's going to be semi-informal i should forego the jacket and just go with a vest. i think this is a nice summertimey look [editor's note: from j.crew]. elena is making me write this. we sorted out the guest list today. most of you are not invited. let's just get that out there right now. elena is always saying "someone from Finland is reading the site!". you are not invited. sorry. i mean i'm sure it would add a bit of color to the proceedings but what can you do. budgets being what they are and us not actually knowing you and all. we will put pictures up here i'm sure. well, i have to go now. bye.

shooooooes

Since I got such a deal on the dress, I've been thinking about other parts of the budget that can absorb the extra dough. There are all too many options... and I believe the dough is already absorbed but... oooooh. On sale at netaporter, some just perfect Louboutins:

ooooh fun

I've liked the idea of the chalkboard fabric for a while now and this is a fun use for it. I also like the porcelain vessels incl. the milk bottles. Someone has her finger on the pulse of craft trends.

Apparently featured on Martha Weddings, via the just-added-to-my-feed-reader "we met in a bar"

Upon last discussion, we're going with red and white gingham table cloths with kraft paper on top and crayons for the wee ones. As a person who owns ONE table cloth and VERY RARELY uses it, let me say that it is very weird to have table dressings planned for a dinner not quite a year away. Weddings are weird, man.

I think I've got my dress...

So the ebay dress did come after all. It's just too easy. It can't be done, can it?
It fits, but it's hard to say much else about it since it's so creased but this weekend I should be able to get a better idea of what it's like.

Aside from that, the wedding planning is on a natural pause. We've got everything sort of booked, but nothing fully booked and I'm trying not to let that stress me out. I did a trial run of the tomato favours, and they look cute but I need red fabric for sure. White with red polka dots just doesn't cut it I'm afraid.

I'm not sure what to do next... we guess just wait. Wait until we hear back from the caterer, wait until we hear back from the venue person, but they've all said they're in, and we just need quotes and to sign things. Waiting is not my forte, but wait I will do.

see, this is what i'm thinking:

The ladies in different dresses, with the same colour in mind. Although in my case - red! And see how the bride's dress is nice and simple? Yeah, I like that too.
