cute dress!

I forget where I orignally heard about Aurelio Costarella, but this dress from his Spring/Summer 08 is just too cute. I like how the hem is petal-like. And the straps! Perfection. I don't think this would be too becoming on my womanly figure but it's cute as a button on the wee model.

And what's with all the amazing Aussie designers? Where did they all come from?

Yes, I know... Australia...

for your maids to clutch.

The new Vogue sewing patterns are out for this fall. How great would it be to make clutches for your bridesmaids? Neato! I love the leopard one with the half bow... not in that print... but it's of the right vibe methinks.

silly sailor

I saw the above image at Elizabeth Anne designs - awesome. Pip and I have been thinking about how to take advantage of the fun nautical potential of our island wedding without giving the (extremely false) impression that we are at all interested in sailing ourselves. I think the sailor hat party prop is completely appropriate and necessary, though. And a corn-cob pipe. Hehe.

Tim & April's Nada Surf poster

More vintagey bookey ideas

Today Pip and I met with Tim and April, the super cute and awesome couple who are screenprinting our invites etc. They have done a bunch of posters for gigs at Sonic Boom, including an awesome one for the Nada Surf in store that was based on an old Penguin cover.

They might draft up something like that, based on another book in their rad vintage book collection for us. I meant to take pictures but after all the excitement I forgot.

Going through my feeds just now I came across these old nature guide covers and contents on Nibs:

I love the old paper colour and there's something about the ink on these old books. Just so cool.

oooh flowers

I love how this arrangement from ariella chezar combines loose, cabbagey flowers with fruit. Another way to make things seasonal & local mayhaps...

dresses for wee oriana

The one on the right, above, in "tomate." So cute! From loopy design.

But I really like the idea of a fancy skirt and t-shirt so that the skirt could be used over again for dress up and the like. Like this skirt in "cranberry" but I think we can find/make one more locally and affordably.
